Economist Tough Texting While the first text message was sent on 12/3/92, it took until 2005 for the number of SMS/MMS messages sent in the U.S. to exceed 100 billion, probably because they cost $0.10/text. Then they became free, and the number sent zoomed to one trillion in 2008 and peaked at 2.4 trillion in 2011. Since, they have leveled off and were 2.0 trillion in 2021, that’s 6,000 texts/person! Residents of Horseshoe Bay are invited to become resident members of the Alliance to meet and mingle with various member businesses during Alliance events and to automatically receive notification of event dates, locations and times. There is never a fee to join, there are no dues to be a member and no charge to attend any event of the HSB Business Alliance.
